Breathe fire...

Three days at the Western Sydney International Dragway was heaven, 16,17 and 18th September.
You can watch 'Touring Cars' go round and round if you like but at the drags... the faster the race is over... the better.
Each night I came home, all I could smell or taste was methanol and rubber.

For three days they battled elimination.
From the 'fastest woman' on Mother Earth, Rachelle Splatt to me mate Bob who spent three grand just on that weekend getting his street legal Torana ready... only to see failure... but Bob will be back with a vengeance soon enough.
I asked him why he raced for at all?... he said...

"for the rush man", "I'm higher than any drug can lift me"!

A carnival atmosphere with many family run teams, from carrot farmers to crane operators.
Many panel and mechanical workshop owners.

I spoke to a close friend about how every panel beater and mechanic should have a presence at the drags.
He reckoned that "not everyone was interested in drag racing"...
Hogwash!... if you've got a workshop in Australia and you're not on the strip showing off your talent... then you don't exist in my book.
At Eastern Creek, they have one of the finest tracks on Earth!
The best place to show your finest work.

I remember a few years back when I worked all over Sydney installing cable modems for internet service. I came across a customer in the north shore somewhere. We talked a while and he told me how he didn't let his kids watch the Simpson's... because they learnt too much attitude.
I'd like to offer some advice about this... mate, turn on the Simpson's and let them watch; then go 'round to all your other wanker friends and get'm into their posh cars and tell'm to follow you.
Make sure you all bring your families.
Drive out of the north shore and look for the M4... drive west on the M4 until you see the Eastern Creek signs... it's pretty easy to find the Western Sydney International Dragway.
Come and see how the friendliest people in the world get along... your kids will love you for it and with a bit of luck... they won't turn out to be jerks like you.

I reckon the 'top bikes' do the coolest burnouts but there's a lot to choose from to form your own opinion.
Every now and then they wheel the Top Fuelers out...
There's nothing like seeing them go off for the first time...
They come out like every other vehicle and do a cool burnout, their burnouts are huge, after all, they're the TOP fuelers... "but that's not it", for a moment you think you've seen it all, you wonder "what more can they do"?
...... they roll back to the grid... they edge forward ever so slowly till they're ready to blast off...
Then the lights change and...

It's too difficult to explain in writing... come out and see the rich culture that it is in person... You won't believe it.

On a glorious spring Sunday, under a rising full moon, in a humble corner of Gods Green Earth... John Zappia from Western Australia drove the fastest Top Door Slammer
'on Earth' and into history.

I went back to my day job on Monday morning. I cut myself by accident and you know what?... I bled methanol.

Bullshit Bill...

....Please, when I die... don't come crying to my funeral... that's not the kind of guy I am.
