Cool cosy weather made the event wonderful to attend while there was no shortage of action to quench my addiction to the atmosphere.
I took my eldest daughter for the first time… I wasn't sure how she would react but she loved it much to my wife' surprise.
She couldn't stop laughing at the freak show that are the top-fuelers when they burst into flames.
Now she wants to go all the time… and gee she was thrilled by the junior dragsters, especially witnessing so many girls enjoying the sport. I may just have to invest in a kid's dragster over at J&C Mowers… … …
Someone's pinching the media vests and I didn't get one on Friday night so can the culprits please give them back… I missed a great moment when Rodney Silvestro jumped off his TOP BIKE at 300 kms per hour.
I favour the shots I can take from the end of the track rather than the grid and without a vest I can't get out there.
MDR-Macarthur Drag Racers.
Adam Nicholls and the Macarthur Drag Racers have been round for a few years while I will write more about them as I join the club. The local papers are interested in an article about the club full of local business people. I aim to get an article published soon.
I've met many of the racers, a great bunch of blokes and their families committed to having as much fun as they possibly can.
I have to get used to spotting their cars at the drags so that I may promote their cause. I intend to shoot more photos of them than anyone else even though I'm there trying to get my shots into the premier drag racing magazine Dragster Australia, I've had a few published.
Once again the thing required mostly is the sponsorship of the teams and their cars.
I can't help but think that potential sponsors have moved slowly because no-one is canvassing them properly. It's no good calling the corporate society direct because multi-national companies give their advertising dollars to the media buyers and it's the media buyer's job to advertise on behalf of the companies they represent.
It's important to find out whom and where the media buyers are and to contact them.
As a commercial photographer I know who the media buyers are and I intend on putting the time in because I've found a sport which is much more dynamic than any other at all, I love it.
Sponsoring a team isn't necessarily expensive at all… you can buy the tyres which could last any length of time between replacement or a business could just pay for the fuel or for example my mate Paul Stephen desires to add a blower to his modified dragster and run in the "Supercharged Outlaws"… give him a blower and he'll paint your name all over his already beautiful paint job…
